Privy Local Privacy Guard — Privacy Policy

Summary

Privy Local Privacy Guard checks outgoing messages for private information on supported chat websites. Message analysis happens locally in your browser. We do not operate a server that receives your messages, detected values, local feedback, or diagnostic logs.

Information handled on your device

To provide its user-facing privacy warning, the extension reads the outgoing message you compose on ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. It may store user-classified private text and its category, salted hashes of findings marked “Not PII,” model settings, consent and pause preferences, and up to 300 diagnostic events in Chrome extension storage. Diagnostic events are designed not to include message text or detected values.

Network activity

The extension connects to Hugging Face only to retrieve public model metadata and user-approved model files. Message text and detection results are not included in those requests. The extension does not sell, share, or use personal information for advertising, profiling, or credit decisions.

Retention and deletion

Model files and extension preferences remain on the device until the user deletes them or removes the extension. “Delete all local model data” removes cached models, adaptive feedback, diagnostic logs, custom model configuration, and protection preferences. Logs and adaptive entries are also bounded by local retention limits.

Limited Use

Use of information received through browser permissions is limited to providing and improving the extension’s single-purpose, user-facing local privacy protection. It is not transferred except when necessary for security or legal compliance, and humans are not permitted to read it except with the user’s specific consent or where legally required.

Your choices

Protection can be paused or resumed at any time. Users can send an original message, send a redacted version, cancel sending, clear learned feedback, clear diagnostic logs, delete all local model data, or uninstall the extension.
